Think back, just a few years back, and remember shopping for new shoes and how you had to get into your car and drive to the shoe store. You then tried out a couple of pairs of shoes, found a couple - or more - that fitted and drove home again the same day.
Today, shopping for new shoes can be done rather differently. More and more people are finding out that they can save a lot of money - and time - by shopping for shoes online. Perhaps this is due to the fact that we get less and less time left over for shopping than we had before. Yet another theory is that we through the Internet have access to a fundamentally larger amount of different styles, shoe designers, brands and sizes compared to our old super mall shoe store.
There are, of course, a wide variety of different shoe stores available on the Internet today - both in the United Stated as well as abroad. There is some advice that is always good to follow when shopping at any of them. Some of the more important things are:
Shipping charges
The shipping charge is the extra expense you have to pay for when shopping for shoes online. Make sure you know what the shipping charge is before adding a lot of items to your shopping cart. This is extra important when buying shoes from an online store in another country.
Some shoe-stores even offer free shipping if your order is above a certain figure. Do not get dazzled buy this but continue to compare the prices from different stores - you might end up paying less even without the free shipping.
Return and exchange policy
This is also a very important aspect when shopping for shoes online. Sometimes the shoes are defect in some way when they arrive, they may not fit you size-wise, or they are just not up to your expectations. It is under these circumstances when it feels good you did you due diligence on the stores policy. Remember that different countries have different policies, so make sure that you research this beforehand.
Sometimes you may waiver your exchange policy when purchasing shoes that are on sale, but should the shoes turn out to be defective it is always good to know if you have to pay the return shipment out of your own pocket.
Request information on delivery times
If you really need your shoes for a certain date you had better check twice if the shoes are on stock or not before placing your order. An email is the safest way to find out as you then receive a written confirmation. This is even more important when shopping from another country. Most of the larger shoe stores with a good online reputation have fast delivery times - but why take the chance?
As long as you only purchase shoes from some of the better known and reputable shoe stores online - as well as consider the former advice - you will save both time and money. You will also have an endless supply of what the world of shoes has to offer.
